5. Chemo treatment day 1

Hello all, yesterday was a rather long one, but ONE CHEMO TREATMENT DOWN!! It started with Dad and I heading to the clinic for labs and a brief talk with my oncologist and her helpful cancer navigator nurse.  I was gifted with a goodie bag from a local sorority including this breast cancer survivor's book, a comfy blanket, ring pop, and socks. Decked out in pink for the cause!  After receiving IV anti-nausea meds, the Adriamycin was given first in two vials followed by the Cytoxan.  I was told that my nose would tingle toward the end of the Cytoxan...not quite.  Last but not least I was given a Neulasta patch to stimulate my white blood cell counts.

I'd just like to stop and take a brief second to shout out how thankful I am to have such a loving and supporting father throughout all of this and of course my own personal guardian angel (Mama ;-) who's here in spirit.  The man you see here dropped what he was doing, carried his work with him, and has been with me in Jackson for nearly two weeks.  Now that's love!

Just admiring the various cancer ribbons on the wall while waiting to check out.

After I returned home, dear friends stopped by the house to cheer me up- Indian food and cake included, yum!  Muchisimas gracias, amigos!

I had to enjoy these treats today as last night I started feeling queasy.  Even after popping some oral and IV anti-nausea meds.  The chemo showed me who's boss unfortunately.

Today I'm resting and marking the calendar for upcoming appointments:
Thursday: Meeting with the General Surgeon and Radiation Oncology specialist
Friday: The big chop! Rather than watching my hair fall out, I was told it was empowering to take matters into my own hands so WAKANDA FOREVERRRR (Marvel's "Black Panther" reference, ie- I'm going bald).  My hairstylist so kindly agreed to make a wig, and I'll be wearing fancy scarves as well.

So that's about it for today folks- combating nausea and taking it easy.  Until next time!

  1. So Blessed to have 2 Awesome Fathers and a Guardian Angel! I showed my Mom the pictures and she smiled and said to tell Muscles hello, lol. She also sends her Love and Prayers. Always remember how Blessed and Loved you are! God had a lot of work for you to do Doc McStuffin. He wants to to continue to spread he word, and continue to show Love and Compassion to the people and especially the patients you take care of.
    ❤u much

    1. Aww hahaha, I'll let Dad know that Ms. Doolie says hello. Thank you for that sweet reminder. I'm hanging on for the ride; we'll see what the Lord has in store.
